Production; Taking the first shot

Hello my lovely Gems. Welcome back to another installment of my production blogs. Last blog I referenced the actually filming, telling y'all to stay tuned, so here we are. The moment you all have been waiting for, so let's get into it. Just to clear up this is only day 1 of filming the other days are coming.

So Take 1 was film in a wide shot but also a three shot. I used these angels were used to establish the close relationship between the friends in the video. After a few more takes the location was changed. Inside, where I was out of sight, the setup for the shot had to be somewhat different. The angles were the same beside a medium close up was when Karina is showing Maddie something. I used this shot to direct the viewers that this relationship is the main focus of our video. From that angle I move to a over the shoulder shot were the viewer are seeing what Maddie is seeing. From there I return the camera to the original position however with a two shot to add to the growing tension between the two. I chose all of these angles in order to create an atmosphere of a friendship that is falling apart, as it is going to be seen during the storyline. However with limited time the relationship cannot be built with words and actions so the camera work is doing a lot of the talking. In my mind to really have our storyline of friend turns on friend then the intimate relationship needs to be there; which is my ultimate goal behind the camera. As it is my part of the project, using angles and shots to help convey the same message they are through their acting.

Well Gems that wraps up the blog. Stay tuned for the other days of filming because the is so much more to dive into. But until then enjoy this mostly accurate deception of my camera work.

Sincerely,

Makenna Jewels <3

Production: Filming; The Man in the Mirror (maze)

Hey Gems. Welcome back as promised here is the blog were I felt everything went wrong. But we'll get into that. This blog is not A Glimpse in my Chaotic Mind, because I wouldn't have done that, rather a look into someone else's mind. Let's just get into this.  First how do you work at a fair and have the most unapproachable attitude I have ever seen in my whole 16 years of living. Like if you don't like people don't work at fair. Like hello. So as y’all know the mirror maze was a major part of our film. Yes I’m using past tense because that dream came crashing down real quick. So. we mostly filmed in order of the scenes. We beforehand asked each ride or game attendee can we film. When we asked Mr. Attitude’s response was “no, how many?” Then when we were trying to explain the situation to him he just scanned the game-card and told us to go in. However we were what for it to clear so we could get a good take. He doesn’t care at all.  Now that we had captured the ...

Production; Wrapped in black

Hey Gems.  I hope you enjoyed my rant about about motorcycles last blog. Today's blog is going to be less aggressive. Yes, I know the title is deceiving. But what do you expect when this is a glimpse into my chaotic mind. However today is all about my costume. Let's get into this.   My character Amanda (spoiler) is the stalker so we decided all black would be the best option.  A hoodie was also included in the outfit as to make to reveal more dramatic. Shall we break this outfit down like they do on the red carpet.  A black hoodie that was slightly oversized to have a hood that would cover my face. The face covering that was actually a black scarf which was used instead of a face mask. And I think the worst decision made on my part, black boots with an wedge. Don't get me wrong I love my boots but as a stalker running around a fair, a pair of Converses would have been a relief. The hoodie and boots were paired with dark blue jeans. Side note the nails ...

Title Research; Gone girl

Welcome back Gems. Today the research we've learned is being used to break down an opening sequence.  The movie being used is Gone Girl. Let's get into this.  The website I have decided to use is: http://www.artofthetitle.com/ What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? They display that it is a David Fincher film Based on the novel by Gillian Flynn, Written by Gillian Flynn and Scott Huff. They also mention the actors like Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, and Lisa Banes. Also, they mention the title “Gone What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The opening sequence of Gone Girl is quite stylized and features a series of images of the lead characters Amy Eliott and Nick Punne as well as the various places where the movie is set, including their sprawling New York home, the streets of Missouri, and the natural surroundings. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre fro...
