Production; Behind the Magic

Hey Gems. Today is a bit different, but I wanted to spice it up. Today it's all about those little moments that don't make the cut for the other blog. My editor (Me) has allowed this exclusive behind the scenes blog. Let's dive into the unknown, after you.  So first the ride there was filled with traffic. And not just any traffic, Florida rush hour traffic. Any Florida traffic isn't pretty but rush hour is the worst. But all was fine once we made it to the Turnpike. The drive was fine beside it being like 40+ minutes. So turns out the fair was not called South Broward Fair it's South Florida Fair, oopies. So that would explain the drive. This ties into why filming and getting the right takes was so important because who driving back up there. Not me, mostly because I don't have my licenses yet, but that's not important. Once we arrived at the fair the line to get in was long. No joke. I know I keep saying this But I didn't know this many people go to the

Production: Re-edit; Next in Line

Hey Gems. Last time we were together we talked about the editing the was made. And like all things we have to go back and add changes. A few minor changes to make a major difference. Before we start the answer from last blog is Evermore (feat. Bon Iver), great song by the way.  Let's make some changes.  So first order of business, the voiceover. It took a minute to get everyone who needed to do a voiceover in the same place but it happened. The way we are doing the voiceover is using Voice Memos. I know call it unprofessional or whatever you want. If you have a better software please let me know, and if there is a fee to use it I'll drop my Cashapp. Anyways sorry about that, it was my disclaimer.   The voiceover is being done in a semi-quiet environment. The artificial environment is meant to mock a fair, but much quieter. Adding in noise into the editing software.  The voiceover is recorded using phone microphones and headphones. The voiceover will be layered with the original

Production: Editing; Step Right Up

While hello there, Gems. Enter if you dare into this editing blog. Did that sound scary I wanted to give my best haunted house impression. Yes, I this isn't a haunted house. Does it matter? Let's get into why you are here the editing process. Right this way.   So the editing process has not changed that much since last project, well I'll explain. This time filming was done on my phone which I don't really care about, I have the storage. But it would mean I would have to send the videos to Karina who would the major editing. While at the fair we began to crop clips to their proper length. For instance if the take was 13 and the scene was 10 second we would shave off the extra 3 seconds. This is to ensure the film was the desired time. And since the shots were pretty much taken in order, ordering the shot were a lot easier.  Also this really isn't editing but the the the take we preferred the most the video was hearted so it was easier to find. Filters were also added

Production: Refilm; The Twirl-O-World

Hey Gems, today is about over coming the challenges faced while filming. And I know y’all read the last blogs. So let’s not spend time talking about what we already know. And get into the new stuff which is a lot more positive than the other post. Ok enough intro let’s get into this.  As you know the mirror maze was a bust. We already know why, so lets talk solution. We need another way to separate the friends with out the mirror maze. And it literally hit us, well screamed at us. We're at a fair what do fairs have, rides duh.  I can't believed we didn't think of that before. But y'all know how it is when you get an idea, it just kind of sticks. So we found a ride I don't know the name, but the one where you sit and it up in the air and spins. So we all got on that because it's a fair after all and they're meant for fun. The scene was filmed but tiny problem we weren't in the scene. To avoid being seen since Karina and I weren't in the shot we sat on

Production: Filming; The Man in the Mirror (maze)

Hey Gems. Welcome back as promised here is the blog were I felt everything went wrong. But we'll get into that. This blog is not A Glimpse in my Chaotic Mind, because I wouldn't have done that, rather a look into someone else's mind. Let's just get into this.  First how do you work at a fair and have the most unapproachable attitude I have ever seen in my whole 16 years of living. Like if you don't like people don't work at fair. Like hello. So as y’all know the mirror maze was a major part of our film. Yes I’m using past tense because that dream came crashing down real quick. So. we mostly filmed in order of the scenes. We beforehand asked each ride or game attendee can we film. When we asked Mr. Attitude’s response was “no, how many?” Then when we were trying to explain the situation to him he just scanned the game-card and told us to go in. However we were what for it to clear so we could get a good take. He doesn’t care at all.  Now that we had captured the

Production; Does That Sound Fair?

Hey Gems.  Today is a good day. It's music day. And no, before you ask, this will not be a mirror image of my Spotify wrapped. Which is unfortunate for me.  Let's get into this.  First I would state the difference between circus and fair. We going with fair, not circus okay. I'm glad we got that out of the the way. Second the music being used is copyright free. I know it's sad but there will be no features of the soundtrack. It's a sad but true fact, none of our favs are making an appearance.  So the song has to have a mysterious tone because of the whole stalker thing. The mood created need to have the viewers on edge. For me a fair has a sense of comfort and fun I wanted that the felt through the music. But also the feeling of something not being right from the friends being followed. The music need to be able to the tell the story that was also being told by the actors. So friendly to eerie. If you remember last project, the music video, the music began to build

Production; Wrapped in black

Hey Gems.  I hope you enjoyed my rant about about motorcycles last blog. Today's blog is going to be less aggressive. Yes, I know the title is deceiving. But what do you expect when this is a glimpse into my chaotic mind. However today is all about my costume. Let's get into this.   My character Amanda (spoiler) is the stalker so we decided all black would be the best option.  A hoodie was also included in the outfit as to make to reveal more dramatic. Shall we break this outfit down like they do on the red carpet.  A black hoodie that was slightly oversized to have a hood that would cover my face. The face covering that was actually a black scarf which was used instead of a face mask. And I think the worst decision made on my part, black boots with an wedge. Don't get me wrong I love my boots but as a stalker running around a fair, a pair of Converses would have been a relief. The hoodie and boots were paired with dark blue jeans. Side note the nails are a stylistic choice

Production; The 3 million and 1 motorcycles

Welcome back Gems. Don't let the title scare you, this blog is indeed about filming, or the lack thereof. Gear up for this one and let's hit the road. So we all know to make this movie happen we had to be at a fair. We do know this right? Because if you don't then I don't know why you're reading this. Read those and then come back. Ok now that they're gone, we arrived at the fair at roughly 6:15 pm. We had to walk down to the entrance and buy tickets. The way we enter had this expo inside of it.  Like Publix, Mattress Firm and mini sea show and so much more. However Jennifer wasn't not in there. She didn't even know what we were talking about I mean who would "near the giant sand shark" isn't exactly the best directions. So when find her it is exactly 6:30 pm, which is the time the South Florida fair decided to have a motorcycle parade. Yeah motorcycle and parade in the same sentence. This parade consisted of well over 300 motorcyclist and
